I had my first shot at emceeing at the April Open Mic last night. I never realised what an exhausting job it was juggling the performers and the announcements, the breaks, and getting the names right, sometimes wrong, but somehow fixing it.
It was a great lineup with three special guests:
Dana Rufolo, an American from Luxembourg I’d met at the Geneva Writers’ Conference, Ulli Freer a German poet who lives in London, and Essi Henriksson, a young Finnish novelist and poet. The Kafka was full with an attentive audience. You can check out the ambience here .
