Synchronicity?

Sometimes things happen that all seem to link. I was made aware of this again on Tuesday night at Ernst Molden live to hear songs from the new Bubenlieder CD and to see the group A Life A Song A Cigarette in action, and action it was. Ernst’s songs in German going beneath the skin, and ALASAC’s music, with lyrics in English grabbing at a sort of visceral romanticism with cello and hardrock excerpts, weren’t lost on this babyboomer, grown up with Leonard Cohen’s Suzanne. And just a week or so earlier there was the Viennale with a late-night screening of the documentary, Leonard Cohen: I’m Your Man which featured a performance by Nick Cave. Nick Cave, who’ll be giving a solo concert next Monday in the Wiener Konzerthaus, taught a workshop at the Vienna Poetry Academy back in 1998. And round it goes.
